September 10, 2024 — Inquiry By Design (IBD), is pleased to announce that Suffern Central School District, located in Hillburn, NY, has selected its English Language Arts (ELA) and Spanish Language Arts (SLA) curriculum for a year-long pilot for grades 9 and 10 during the 2024-2025 school year. This pilot program is designed to assess how the curriculum supports students' learning, with the goal of moving toward full adoption based on its effectiveness in fostering student success.
Suffern Central School District, known for its emphasis on culturally responsive pedagogy and critical thinking development, selected Inquiry By Design for its alignment with the district’s educational goals. These goals include fostering bicultural, biliterate, and bilingual students, as well as equipping students with the critical thinking, problem-solving, and empathy skills needed to thrive in a globalized, complex world. Inquiry By Design’s ELA and SLA curricula are recognized for their diverse, inclusive texts and emphasis on student engagement. The program provides teachers with resources that encourage deeper exploration of literary works, foster classroom discussions, and build critical thinking and literacy skills.
“We are thrilled to partner with Suffern Central on this pilot program,” said Dean Guzman, Managing Director of Sales and Marketing at Inquiry By Design. “We are confident that, through collaborative problem solving and ongoing professional learning, this pilot will demonstrate the value our program brings to both teachers and students, setting the foundation for a long-term partnership.”
Suffern Central joins a growing list of districts piloting Inquiry By Design’s curriculum, with an eye toward transforming education and ensuring equitable access to high-quality literacy instruction.
